The newly released Generation X Extreme
Profile Grinder not
only can grind guidewires in a conventional or unique profile
mode, but this machine is also capable of grinding in a standard
centerless fashion.
This base machine design was originally introduced at IMTS 2002
as our New-Hi-Accuracy Centerless Grinder. Designed for the Aerospace
and Hi-Tech industries, this machine in its standard centerless
mode
achieves under .000015” (.00038mm) roundness and .000015”
(.00038mm) straightness and gives you the ultimate in flexibility
for your research and development facility. This is a grinder that
can
grind all your guidewire shapes, and also operate as a conventional
centerless grinder0.
Extreme Profile Mode
The first of three available modes for this grinding system is the
Extreme Profile Mode. Ellipse, balls, inside and outside radii,
threads,
and anything else you can dream can be ground in this mode.
Conversational programming using “Windows Wizards”
and intitutative
data entry makes the most complex shapes, easy to plug into the
system. In the Extreme Profile Mode, linear tolerances of under
.001”(.00254mm) and diameter tolerances of .000050”
(.00127mm) are easily achievable without any operator technique.
The Extreme Profile Mode has a variable speed grind system. On long
straight sections the feed rate can be increased for a faster grind
and
when approaching the unique features of the profile it can be slowed
down. This feature will optimize your grind time.
This system has been designed with a grinding wheel
speed inverter
for controlling its surface speed. The grinding wheel spindle when
using a properly rated superabrasive grinding wheel, can increase
up to 9000 surface feet per minute.
